LANDI KOTAL: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) Landi Kotal chapter has backed party chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s recent statement, rejecting what it described as a campaign of political propaganda and social media trials against him.
Speaking at a crowded press conference held at the District Press Club Khyber in Landi Kotal, JUI-F leaders said the party respected the sacrifices of martyrs and would continue its struggle for peace, stability and the supremacy of law in the country.
The press conference was attended by acting district chief Maulana Azmat, Mufti Ejaz Shinwari, General Secretary Maulana Azeem Shah, Qari Nazeem Gul, Qari Musarrat Shah and a large number of party workers and supporters.
Addressing the media, the leaders expressed full support for Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s recent remarks, saying some groups were presenting his statement out of context in an attempt to malign the JUI-F leadership.
They said the JUI-F chief had never disrespected martyrs and that his words were being deliberately misinterpreted. The leaders maintained that their party had always honoured those who sacrificed their lives and had played a role in defending the state, democracy and the Constitution.
They said the JUI-F had faced criticism and accusations in different periods but had always remained committed to Pakistan, constitutional values and the democratic system.
The party leaders criticised government ministers, advisers and social media campaigns targeting the JUI-F, calling character assassination and online trials for political gains unacceptable. They urged political actors to show responsibility on national issues and avoid turning differences of opinion into campaigns of hatred.
Mufti Ejaz Shinwari said the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan remained a matter of concern, adding that people in these regions wanted lasting peace.
He said the emerging situation regarding Afghanistan had also created concerns among residents of tribal areas and Balochistan, warning that the region should not be pushed towards another wave of instability or proxy conflicts.
The JUI-F leader criticised what he called excessive focus on Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s statement, saying that instead of addressing tragic incidents such as the Ziarat incident in Balochistan, federal ministers were holding repeated press conferences and engaging in media trials against the party chief.
General Secretary Maulana Azeem Shah claimed that JUI-F’s public support was growing across the country, including Punjab, and said some political groups were unsettled by the party’s rising influence.
Concluding the press conference, acting district chief Maulana Azmat said the JUI-F had complete faith in the state of Pakistan, democracy and the Constitution. He urged critics to avoid misrepresenting Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s statement and spreading what he called baseless propaganda, saying such actions could further increase political tensions.
He reiterated that the party respected martyrs and would continue working for peace, stability and the rule of law in Pakistan.
