KARACHI: Police are continuing to investigate the death of 25-year-old Mir Raza, whose body was recovered from Gulistan-e-Johar, with investigators examining his movements and circumstances before his death.
A key development in the investigation is that Raza left his essential belongings at home before going out, including his wallet, house keys and smartwatch. Police also found that he had transferred some money to his parents’ account shortly before leaving.
Raza left his home at around 4:02am on July 28. Investigators are now examining why he went out without taking several items he would normally be expected to carry.
Police have obtained more than 100 CCTV recordings as part of the investigation and are reviewing footage and other evidence from different angles to establish Raza’s movements and identify what happened to him.
Investigators have also recorded the statement of Raza’s fiancée. According to her statement, Raza had not expressed any concern, fear or personal problem to her before leaving home.
She told police that she repeatedly called Raza on her mobile phone on the morning of July 28, but he did not answer.
The postmortem report states that Raza died from excessive blood loss after sustaining a gunshot wound to the chest. His mobile phone, which was recovered some distance from the location where his body was found, has also been sent for forensic examination.
Police are continuing to analyse CCTV footage, forensic evidence, phone data and statements from people close to the victim as they seek to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
