KARACHI: Police in Karachi’s South district have arrested two men and seized a large consignment of gutka and mawa during a patrol operation in the Aram Bagh area, according to an official statement.

Aram Bagh police said officers stopped a suspicious Mehran car and recovered 11 sacks containing 2,750 packets of gutka and mawa, with a combined weight of 90 kilograms, during a search of the vehicle.
The suspects were identified as Umair Ali and Abdul Qadir. Police alleged that the pair were attempting to transport and supply the banned products.
An FIR, No. 283/2026, has been registered against the suspects under Section 8(1) of the Sindh Gutka and Mawa (Prohibition) Act, 2019.
Police said the recovered consignment had been taken into custody, while the arrested men were handed over to the investigation branch for further legal proceedings.
The allegations against the suspects have not been independently verified, and the case remains subject to investigation and judicial process.
