KARACHI: A traffic police officer allegedly died by suicide after shooting himself while on duty on Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road in the Civil Lines area of Karachi, police said.
According to SSP South Mahzoor Ali, the deceased, identified as Head Constable Nawaz Nadeem Qureshi, sustained a gunshot wound to the head while performing his duties.
Police said the officer was deployed on traffic duty on Dr Ziauddin Ahmed Road at the time of the incident.
The body was shifted to a hospital for legal formalities and further investigation. Officials said the deceased was a resident of Nafeesabad, PIB Colony.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. No further details were immediately available.
