KARACHI: Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Chairman of Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P), has expressed profound grief, anger, and condemnation over the assassination of Haji Shehzad, Joint UC Organizer of New Karachi Town UC-8, who was shot in a targeted attack.

Dr Siddiqui described Haji Shehzad as a sincere and people-oriented worker whose killing underscores the failure of the Sindh government and its law enforcement agencies to maintain law and order in Karachi. “The city is once again drenched in blood, while the Sindh government and its agencies remain criminally silent. Targeted killings, shootings, and violence have become routine, leaving citizens feeling completely insecure, while the perpetrators roam freely,” he said.

He called for the immediate arrest of the killers and their prosecution to the fullest extent of the law, urging the restoration of peace in Karachi. Dr Siddiqui also extended heartfelt condolences to Haji Shehzad’s family, assuring them that every MQM-P worker stands with them in this hour of grief. He prayed for the martyr’s soul to attain the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous and for his family to be granted patience.

The funeral prayers were held at Maki Mosque, and Haji Shehzad was laid to rest at New Karachi Siddiquiabad Cemetery amid heavy mourning. Senior MQM-P leaders, including Dr Farooq Sattar, Anis Qaimkhani, Farqan Atib (C.O.C in-charge), Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan (Member National Assembly), Abdul Wasim (Member Provincial Assembly), Shakil Ahmed, Arshad Hassan, Shakir Ali, Sharif Khan, and other party officials, attended the funeral and met the bereaved family to offer condolences and assure full support.

Dr Siddiqui’s statement highlighted the growing law and order crisis in Karachi and reiterated the party’s demand for prompt action against the perpetrators to safeguard citizens and restore stability in the city.
