SUKKUR: Mayor Sukkur and Sindh government spokesperson Barrister Arslan Islam Sheikh paid tribute to the martyrs of the Karsaz tragedy, saying that 18 October would forever stand as a symbol of sacrifice, courage, and democratic resilience.

He said the party workers who lost their lives in the 2007 bombing at Karsaz kept alive the people’s right to rule with their blood, adding that their sacrifice remained a golden chapter in Pakistan’s democratic history.

Barrister Sheikh said the Pakistan Peoples Party’s history was marked by struggle, sacrifice, and service to the nation. He described the late Benazir Bhutto as a beacon of hope and courage who had fought for the rights of the people while fearlessly facing threats to her own life.

The mayor said the Karsaz tragedy did not extinguish the light of democracy; instead, it renewed the PPP’s pledge that its workers would always remain the guardians of democracy and the people’s right to govern themselves.

He said resistance to tyranny and dictatorship had long defined the PPP’s political identity, and the martyrs of Karsaz had set an enduring example of loyalty, sacrifice, and bravery that would always be remembered.

Barrister Arslan Sheikh added that the legacy of Karsaz was not one of grief alone but of courage and conviction. “The martyrs of Karsaz are the pride of our political history,” he said. “Their sacrifices will forever shine as a guiding light for democracy, reminding us that freedom and people’s power are worth every struggle.”

He said their blood had kept democracy alive — and their spirit continued to inspire Pakistan’s democratic journey.
