KHAIRPUR: The newly elected governing body and office-bearers of the Khairpur Arts Council have taken oath at a ceremony held at the Sachal Sarmast Hall, Deputy Commissioner’s Office in Khairpur.
ADC-II Abdul Hakim Dharejo, representing the Deputy Commissioner Khairpur, administered the oath to the newly elected office-bearers and members of the governing body.
Those taking oath included President Mukhtiar Malik, Vice President Khalil-ur-Rehman Mahesar, General Secretary Habeedar Jageerani, Treasurer Taj Sarohi and Joint Secretary Syed Shiraz Shah. All elected members of the governing body also formally assumed their responsibilities.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Abdul Hakim Dharejo said the elections of the Khairpur Arts Council were conducted in a transparent, impartial manner and according to legal requirements. He expressed hope that the new leadership would play an effective role in promoting quality literary, cultural and artistic activities across the district.
Highlighting Khairpur’s historic literary and cultural importance, he called for the city to be included in cultural complex development plans.
He said the newly formed governing body was committed to expanding literary, artistic and cultural activities in the district and promoting Khairpur’s rich heritage.
General Secretary Habeedar Jageerani thanked the district administration, Social Welfare Department, election committee, officials, staff and all those who supported the election process.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, appreciation shields were presented to officials and workers for their outstanding services, while traditional Sindhi ajraks were also gifted to them.
Later, the first meeting of the newly elected governing body was held under the chairmanship of Mukhtiar Malik, where a comprehensive six-month program of literary, cultural and artistic activities was approved.
The planned activities include literary conferences on renowned writers Sheikh Ayaz and Tanvir Abbasi, book launches, theatre festivals, musical evenings, cultural events, media programs and other initiatives aimed at promoting Khairpur’s intellectual and cultural legacy while connecting younger generations with literature, art and traditions.
