KHAIRPUR: The district administration has finalised security and administrative arrangements for the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the martyrs of Karbala, with Deputy Commissioner Altaf Ahmed Chachar directing departments to ensure foolproof security and essential facilities for mourners.

The deputy commissioner chaired a meeting at Sachal Sarmast Hall at the DC Office in Khairpur to review preparations for the religious observance. He directed all relevant departments to work in close coordination so that participants face no difficulties during processions and majalis.

Officials were instructed to ensure uninterrupted electricity, adequate water supply, sanitation and medical facilities along procession and majlis routes.

“A 24-hour control room will remain operational to handle any emergency, while all concerned departments will stay alert,” Chachar said.
The meeting approved enhanced security and surveillance arrangements at sensitive locations to maintain law and order. SEPCO officials were directed to ensure an uninterrupted power supply during processions and majalis, while municipal authorities were instructed to carry out special cleanliness drives along the routes.
Officials from different departments briefed the meeting on preparations made by their respective institutions. After reviewing the arrangements, Chachar directed officials to complete all remaining tasks within the stipulated timeframe.
The deputy commissioner said the district administration was taking every possible measure to provide a peaceful, secure and well-managed environment for Chehlum. He also appealed to the public to cooperate with law enforcement and other relevant departments.
Officials of the District Intelligence Branch (DIB) said a comprehensive security plan had been prepared under which more than 4,000 police personnel would be deployed across the district. Surveillance would also be conducted through two drone cameras, while more than 12 walk-through gates would be installed at key locations. A central control room has also been established to monitor the overall security situation.
According to officials, 139 mourning processions and 164 majalis are scheduled to be held across the district during Chehlum.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Shia community, stakeholders, procession permit holders, Imambargah trustees and representatives of various organisations. Participants presented suggestions regarding security, public facilities, electricity and gas supply, cleanliness of routes and other administrative issues.
Representatives of religious scholars, police, SEPCO, municipal administration, education, revenue, PPHI, health, information and other relevant departments also attended the meeting and assured the administration of their cooperation.
