SUKKUR: Professor Dr. Javeed Ahmed Phulpoto, Principal of Khairpur Medical College (KMC) and Chairman of the Teaching Hospital Management Board (THMB), carried out a detailed inspection of the college and the affiliated teaching hospital, directing staff to improve patient care and warning that negligence would not be tolerated.
Accompanied by Vice Principal Dr. Mukhtiar Ahmed Lakho, AMS Dr. Syed Najaf Shah, Chief Administrator Dr. Farukh Bhanbhro and Administrator Dr. Tariq Soomro, Dr. Phulpoto visited the medical college’s F-Block, lecture halls, central laboratory, emergency ward, outpatient department (OPD), radiology department and several hospital wards.
During the inspection of the central laboratory, he reviewed patient services, medical testing procedures, cleanliness and staff performance. He instructed the relevant officials to address complaints without delay and ensure that patients receive timely, transparent and high-quality services.
At the OPD, Dr. Phulpoto examined the attendance records of doctors and paramedical staff. Expressing concern over the absence of several doctors, he directed that disciplinary action be taken in accordance with the rules, stating that negligence, late attendance and unauthorised absence from duty would not be tolerated.
The principal also visited patients in the emergency ward, radiology department and other hospital wards, where he asked about the quality of treatment, the availability of medicines and other healthcare services.
After hearing concerns raised by patients and their attendants, he instructed doctors and hospital administrators to ensure respectful treatment of patients, eliminate negligence and provide timely and effective medical care.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Phulpoto said providing quality healthcare services at Khairpur Teaching Civil Hospital remains the administration’s highest priority. He added that all doctors and staff must carry out their duties with honesty and professionalism, warning that any negligence resulting in unnecessary hardship for patients would be dealt with strictly.
