KARACHI: Chairman Korangi Town Muhammad Naim Sheikh visited Union Council No 5 in Korangi No 2 on 18 June 2026 and inspected ongoing construction work on a culvert being built under a wider development programme, officials said.
During the visit, he reviewed the pace of construction work in detail and examined the quality of materials being used at the site. He was accompanied by Assistant Engineer Iqbal Saghir, Director Parks Moin Jat and other relevant officials, who briefed him on the technical aspects of the project and its current progress.
Officials said the chairman walked through the construction area and checked structural work, drainage alignment and other engineering components of the culvert. He expressed satisfaction over parts of the ongoing work but stressed that the project must be completed within the stipulated time frame without any compromise on construction quality.
He instructed the concerned departments to ensure that all development work followed proper technical standards so that residents could benefit from long-lasting infrastructure. He also directed officials to maintain close supervision of the project and ensure that no negligence occurred during execution.
Speaking on the occasion, he said development schemes across Korangi Town’s union councils were being completed in phases as part of a broader effort to improve urban infrastructure. He said work was ongoing to strengthen drainage systems, improve roads and streets, address sewage issues and provide basic civic facilities to residents.
He added that the construction of the culvert would help improve water flow during rainfall, reduce chronic drainage problems in the area and ease transportation for local residents. He said such projects were essential for improving urban resilience in low-lying and densely populated neighbourhoods.
The chairman further instructed officials to minimise inconvenience to the public during construction activity. He stressed the importance of cleanliness around work sites and called for strict adherence to safety measures to protect both workers and residents.
He said public funds were being spent with transparency and responsibility, adding that each development project was being closely monitored to ensure quality delivery and timely completion.
Assistant Engineer Iqbal Saghir provided a detailed briefing on the technical design, progress and expected completion timeline of the project, while Director Parks Moin Jat also informed him about related municipal matters.
Local residents appreciated the ongoing development work and expressed hope that the completion of the culvert and other infrastructure projects would significantly improve civic facilities in Korangi No 2. They said long-standing drainage issues were expected to ease and overall infrastructure in the area would become more efficient and modern.
The chairman reiterated his commitment to continue development work across Korangi Town and said all available resources would be utilised to address public issues and improve civic services for residents.
