DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Lawyers at the District Bar Association, Dera Ismail Khan, staged a protest against a reported incident involving a Muslim female student in India, condemning what they described as systemic oppression of minorities in the country. A large turnout of lawyers participated in the gathering.
Addressing the protest, District Bar President Qaisar Mian Khel stated that the demonstration aimed to expose what he called the “dark face” of India, challenging its global image as a democracy committed to human rights. He said the incident highlighted India’s ongoing discriminatory practices against Muslims and other minority communities, asserting that this was not an isolated case.
“A state that calls itself the world’s largest democracy continues to subject its minorities, particularly Muslims, to discriminatory and oppressive treatment,” he said, praising the student’s courage and resilience as a symbol of dignity and determination.
Senior Advocate Zahid Mohibullah echoed these concerns, highlighting India’s treatment of minorities from Gujarat to attacks on places of worship and the humiliation of Muslim women, asserting that human rights in India exist only as claims on paper.
The lawyers passed a joint resolution through the District Bar and High Court Bar, condemning the incident and demanding international attention to ensure justice for oppressed minorities.
Participants reaffirmed their commitment to continue advocating for human dignity, religious freedom, and fundamental rights at every forum, emphasizing solidarity with Muslims and other marginalized communities worldwide.
