KARACHI: The 11th Convocation Ceremony of Liaquat National Medical College (LNMC) was held at the Auditorium of the Convention Centre, Liaquat National Hospital, to honour the graduating class of 2025.
The ceremony was attended by Prof Dr Amjad Siraj Memon, Vice Chancellor of Jinnah Sindh Medical University, senior faculty members, and parents of graduating students.
Prof Dr Memon conferred degrees upon 87 MBBS graduates. Dr Farhana Riaz secured first position, Dr Alina Karam second, and Dr Aliyan third. Following the conferral of degrees, the graduates took an oath reaffirming their commitment to uphold the highest standards of medical ethics and patient care.
Outstanding students were recognised with medals and merit awards for academic excellence. The Wajid Ali Shah Medal for Best Graduate was awarded to Dr Aliyan, the Professor Amir Ali Shoro Medal to Dr Ishrat Ghani, the MD’s Medal for Best Male Graduate to Dr Muhammad Naheel Khalili, and the Principal’s Medal for Best Female Graduate to Dr Uswah Imran.
The Best Alumni Award was presented to Dr Syed Ijlal Ahmed, a 2016 graduate of LNH, who is currently serving as Consultant Neurologist and physician-scientist at the Saint Francis Healthcare System in the United States.
Prof Dr Karimullah Makki, Principal of LNMC, congratulated the graduates and their parents on the achievement, noting a 99% pass result. He said LNMC graduates are serving in various capacities in Pakistan and abroad, adding that the institution is recognized by multiple foreign medical regulatory bodies and accepted as a host and home institution under the Association of American Medical Colleges Visiting Students Learning Opportunities (VSLO) program.
