KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab visited Jahangir Road on Monday to review ongoing development works and inspect the progress of reconstruction being carried out in the area.
Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Municipal Commissioner Abrar Jaffar accompanied him during the visit. The mayor inspected the second section of the road and directed officials to maintain both the quality and pace of the work.
Speaking on the occasion, Murtaza Wahab said that work on the second section of Jahangir Road was nearing completion, while finishing touches were currently under way. He said traffic was moving smoothly on the road and efforts were being made to improve travel conditions for citizens.
He said Jahangir Road was under federal jurisdiction but was being reconstructed by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation to ensure better infrastructure for the city’s residents. He added that fibre manhole covers had been installed to prevent theft and damage.
The mayor further said that unnecessary cables along the road would be removed and that improvements were also planned for street lighting and the green belt. He said development work was progressing across all districts of Karachi and that the administration was taking all possible steps to improve civic facilities.
During the visit, the mayor also met residents and interacted with citizens, including taking selfies with children. Locals expressed satisfaction over the ongoing development work in the area.
