SUKKUR: More than 50 buffaloes were seized during a joint operation against illegal commercial livestock keeping within the municipal limits of Khairpur, officials said.
The operation was carried out on the directives of the Deputy Commissioner of Khairpur and supervised by Assistant Commissioner Umamah Solangi.
The team included Deputy Director Livestock Dr Nazir, Veterinary Officer and Focal Person Dr Asadullah Wasan, the SHO of A-Section Police, Assistant Mukhtiarkar Shiraz Hussain Phulpoto, SHO of the Anti-Encroachment Force Tariq Rind and Anti-Encroachment Inspector Aamir Hussain Phulpoto.
Officials said the buffaloes were being kept in violation of government directives and relevant laws within municipal boundaries. The animals were taken into official custody and shifted to Tando Masti.
The district administration said the operation was aimed at enforcing government orders, improving sanitation, maintaining traffic flow, protecting public health and providing residents with a cleaner and safer urban environment.
Livestock owners were directed to immediately relocate their animals outside municipal limits. The administration said keeping livestock or allowing them to roam freely within the city would no longer be permitted.
It warned that any future violations would lead to strict legal action, including the registration of first information reports, confiscation of animals, fines and other penalties under the relevant laws.
The district administration said similar operations would continue to remove encroachments, improve cleanliness, strengthen urban management and ensure public convenience.
