KARACHI: A memorial gathering organised by Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) Karachi Division and Wahdat Youth was held on Britto Road in Soldier Bazaar to commemorate the late Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei and reaffirm commitment to the current religious leadership.
The event opened with the screening of a documentary highlighting Ayatollah Khamenei’s life and contributions. It was attended by religious scholars, community leaders, MWM officials, party workers and a large number of local residents.
Addressing the gathering, MWM Sindh Secretary General Allama Mukhtar Ahmed Imami said Ayatollah Khamenei’s life is regarded by many as a symbol of perseverance, religious insight and service to the Muslim community. He said the purpose of such gatherings was to remember the contributions of influential religious figures, promote unity among Muslims and renew commitment to the teachings of the Ahlul Bayt. Concluding his address, he urged participants to uphold patience, resilience and Islamic values.
Allama Sadiq Jafri said the Muslim world needed greater unity, intellectual harmony and religious awareness in light of current global challenges. He added that the collective interests of the Muslim community should take precedence despite differences of opinion.
Allama Malik Ghulam Abbas emphasised the responsibility of religious scholars and institutions to focus on the moral and intellectual development of younger generations. He also called for the promotion of religious teachings, Muslim unity and social harmony.
MWM Karachi President Kazim Abbas urged young people to play an active role in community service, positive social engagement and the promotion of religious values. He said the challenges facing the community could only be addressed through unity and mutual cooperation.
Other speakers, including Saim Jafri, also called on participants to fulfil their religious and social responsibilities while promoting unity, patience and steadfastness.
The gathering concluded with special prayers for those described by organisers as the martyrs of the resistance, as well as for unity, peace, stability and the welfare of the Muslim world.
