WASHINGTON: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held a meeting with Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel at the agency’s headquarters in Washington, where the two sides discussed strengthening cooperation in cybersecurity, law enforcement and capacity-building initiatives.
The meeting focused on expanding collaboration between Pakistan and the FBI in the field of cyber investigations, including efforts to improve resources and coordination for tackling cyber threats at national and international levels. Both sides also discussed increasing specialised training programmes to enhance the capabilities of law enforcement personnel.
Welcoming the Pakistani interior minister, Kash Patel described the visit as a privilege and highlighted the importance of continued engagement between the two institutions. He appreciated Naqvi’s cooperation in supporting efforts aimed at protecting US interests in the region.
The FBI director said the partnership between Pakistan and the United States remained significant in addressing evolving security challenges. He expressed confidence that sustained cooperation and closer coordination would help both sides achieve further progress in areas of mutual interest.
During the meeting, Naqvi emphasised the importance of modernising law enforcement capabilities and developing stronger mechanisms to respond to emerging threats, particularly in the digital domain. He underscored the need for international cooperation as cybercrime continued to grow in scale and complexity.
The discussions reflected the ongoing efforts by Pakistan and US security institutions to deepen their working relationship through information sharing, technical cooperation and professional training.
Officials said both sides agreed to continue engagement aimed at improving cybersecurity measures and strengthening law enforcement cooperation to address common challenges. The meeting marked another step in expanding institutional ties between Pakistan and the FBI in the areas of security and technology.
