TANDO ALLAHYAR: A new NADRA registration centre was inaugurated in Tando Allahyar by Municipal Committee chairman Syed Samar Hassan Shah, in a move aimed at improving access to services for residents.
Speaking to the media, Chairman Municipal Committee Syed Samar Hassan Shah Rizvi and DG NADRA Sindh Amir Ali said the establishment of the centre was a positive development for the public. They said the existing NADRA office had limited space for a population of more than one million, which had caused serious difficulties for citizens.
They said NADRA officials had approached the municipal chairman over the issue, after which Syed Samar Hassan Shah Rizvi approved the establishment of the centre on municipal land near Ghani Park, taking into account the problems faced by residents.
The centre, inaugurated by the municipal chairman and DG NADRA Sindh Amir Ali Khan, covers an area of 5,000 square feet, where 10 NADRA counters will be set up. It is expected to benefit the district’s population of around one million.
They said all facilities would be provided under one roof and residents would no longer need to travel to Hyderabad for services. The move, they added, was in line with the mission of PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto.
The new facility has been given the status of a zonal office, where additional counters including those for thalassaemia, weapons, and other services will be established. Separate counters will also be set up for elderly and disabled citizens.
The municipal chairman also urged NADRA officials to establish another centre in Usman Shah Hori so that residents there would not have to travel long distances to obtain identity documents.
