KARACHI: Police have recovered a nine-year-old girl who was allegedly abducted from Qayyumabad on July 17, officials said.
According to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) South, efforts are under way to arrest a suspect identified as Ghaffar, who is allegedly involved in the kidnapping. Police said preliminary investigations suggested that the suspect was a professional beggar and had fled after the incident.
The girl, who is originally from Lahore, had been visiting her maternal grandmother in Qayyumabad when she was allegedly abducted, according to police. Officials said the child was recovered from a location in Hyderabad during the investigation.
Police said efforts to arrest the suspected kidnapper were continuing, while further investigation was under way to determine the circumstances surrounding the abduction and recovery. The recovery of the child has provided relief to her family, while police said legal action would follow once the suspect was apprehended.
