Field Marshal Munir presented Pakistan’s perspective on global peace and regional security, underscoring the country’s strategic concerns and commitment to regional stability

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir held talks with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand on Monday and discussed bilateral relations, regional security and issues of mutual interest, Pakistan’s military said.
The meeting came during Anand’s official visit to Pakistan, as both countries continued diplomatic engagement aimed at expanding cooperation in various fields. The discussions focused on security challenges, regional stability and opportunities to strengthen institutional ties between Islamabad and Ottawa.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Munir shared Pakistan’s perspective on matters related to global peace and regional security. He highlighted the importance of collective efforts and closer cooperation among countries to address emerging security challenges.
The army chief stressed that stronger coordination and mutual understanding were essential to dealing with common threats and maintaining stability in the region. He also underlined Pakistan’s commitment to playing a constructive role in supporting peace and security.
The Canadian foreign minister acknowledged Pakistan’s contributions and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, according to the military’s media wing. She appreciated Pakistan’s continued efforts towards countering security threats and its role in promoting regional peace.
The two sides also discussed ways to enhance cooperation in defence and security sectors. They agreed that greater engagement between the two countries could help strengthen bilateral relations and create new avenues for collaboration.
The ISPR said both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening Pakistan-Canada relations and expanding cooperation in areas of shared interest. The talks reflected the growing focus on security partnerships alongside broader diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries.
The meeting followed discussions between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Anita Anand earlier in the day, where both sides agreed to further expand cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, energy and other sectors.
Officials said the engagements during the Canadian foreign minister’s visit demonstrated the willingness of both countries to build a broader partnership based on mutual respect, shared interests and closer coordination on regional and international issues.
