LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said Pakistan’s armed forces crushed India’s arrogance during the Maarka-e-Haq operation as the country marked the first anniversary of the military success with ceremonies held across the region.
She attended the main event at Wagah Border, where a large number of citizens gathered to witness the commemorative ceremony. The chief minister also visited the Martyrs’ Memorial and laid flowers in tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Maryam Nawaz congratulated the nation on completing one year since the operation and said Pakistan had given a strong response to its adversary. She said national security would never be compromised and declared that peace and sovereignty were Pakistan’s “red line.”
She described the people of Pakistan as united under “Bunyan-e-Marsous” and warned that anyone crossing the country’s red line would face a strong response. She paid tribute to the martyrs and said the nation remained proud of its armed forces.
Maryam Nawaz also praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, saying their leadership strengthened Pakistan on diplomatic and defence fronts. She added that Nawaz Sharif had made Pakistan a nuclear power and the current leadership was continuing to strengthen national defence and diplomacy.
