LAHORE: Pakistan is set to become part of the FIFA e Nations League for the first time, marking a significant milestone for the country’s presence in esports.
The move is being seen as a major step towards promoting competitive gaming and expanding Pakistan’s footprint in international digital sports.
Pakistan Football Federation President Mohsin Gilani said during a press conference that it was a historic moment for the country. He added that while participation in the Nations League was a key achievement, the long-term target remained qualification for the FIFA e World Cup.
He said the initiative would help promote esports culture in Pakistan and provide opportunities for skilled gamers to emerge on the global stage. According to him, a strong and talented team was being prepared for the event, although the level of competition in the league would be tough.
Gilani added that matches had begun and would continue for a week, with further rounds scheduled in May and June.
He also praised the women’s football team for their impressive performance in the FIFA Football Series, adding that several new leagues were in the pipeline as part of broader development efforts.
