SUKKUR: On the directives of the Managing Director of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, Senator Captain (R) Shaheen Khalid Butt, and the Director of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal Sindh, Abdul Hafeez Mahesar, Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal Sukkur and the social organisation NOWPDP had jointly organised an event for the welfare of special persons.
The event had been held at the Special Education School located in the DEPD Complex in Sukkur. Commissioner Sukkur Division Abid Saleem Qureshi had attended the event as the chief guest.
On the occasion, Regional Director DEPD Abdul Qudoos Memon, Assistant Director Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal Sukkur Shabbir Ahmed Memon, Manager of NOWPDP Ashraf Pathan, and Khalid Rind were also present.
During the event, Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal had provided financial assistance of Rs 1,000,000 to 30 special persons, both men and women, in the form of cheques of Rs 30,000 each. In addition, in collaboration with NOWPDP, 20 persons with disabilities had been provided wheelchairs.
The chief guest, Commissioner Sukkur Abid Saleem Qureshi, had distributed the cheques and wheelchairs among the beneficiaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Abid Saleem Qureshi had said that persons with disabilities were an important part of society and it was the responsibility of government and administrative institutions to provide them with guidance, welfare, education and employment opportunities. He had expressed satisfaction over the welfare activities carried out by the government institution and the social organisation.
Senator Captain (R) Shaheen Khalid Butt was also mentioned in connection with the directives that led to the initiative.
