LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has banned domestic cricketer Hamza Nazar for two years and imposed a fine of Rs1 million following an inquiry into information provided during a visa application.
The PCB said the ban would prevent Nazar from participating in all domestic and international cricket-related activities for two years.
According to the board, disciplinary action was taken after an inquiry committee examined the information provided by Nazar during the visa application process. The PCB said he had failed to provide complete and accurate information and had submitted misleading details while withholding material facts relevant to the application.
The board said a three-member committee was constituted to investigate the matter and Nazar was given an opportunity to present his position during the proceedings. Following the committee’s findings, the PCB imposed the two-year ban and financial penalty.
The cricket board said it took misrepresentation, concealment of facts and the submission of misleading information seriously, stressing that such conduct could damage the reputation of the board, Pakistan cricket and its players.
The PCB said no individual would be allowed to undermine the integrity and credibility of Pakistan cricket or harm the confidence of cricket fans. The disciplinary action means Nazar will remain barred from both domestic and international cricket activities for the duration of the two-year suspension, in addition to paying the Rs1 million fine.
