ISLAMABAD: Jiang Zaidong, China’s ambassador to Pakistan, called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister House on Monday, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the long-standing strategic partnership between the two countries amid a changing regional landscape.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, the Prime Minister’s Adviser Dr Syed Tauqir Shah and Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch. Senior officials discussed the progress of bilateral cooperation and reviewed matters of regional and international importance.
During the meeting, the prime minister conveyed his warm greetings and best wishes to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. He also recalled his visit to China in May this year and described it as an important opportunity to deepen engagement between the two friendly countries. He said the visit had helped reinforce mutual trust and had opened new avenues for cooperation in different sectors.
Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership. He said the friendship between the two countries had remained strong through changing regional and global circumstances and continued to serve the shared interests of both nations.
The prime minister added that Pakistan would continue to work closely with the Chinese leadership to implement the decisions and agreements reached during high-level exchanges. He said those understandings would help promote economic cooperation, development and long-term prosperity for the people of both countries.
