KARACHI: Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam has claimed that police have traced the entire case surrounding the death of young businessman Mir Raza Ali and said details would be disclosed soon.
In a statement, the Sindh police chief said the police had worked extensively on the case and that there had been no negligence on the part of the department. Javed Alam said police would hold a press conference shortly to brief the media about the investigation and share the findings of the case.
Meanwhile, Mir Raza’s father, Mir Hussain, has accused investigators of negligence and questioned the direction of the investigation. “We are talking about murder, but the investigation is taking a different direction,” he said.
The father rejected the suggestion that his son’s financial liabilities could explain his death, saying that having debts was not evidence of anything. He reiterated the family’s belief that Mir Raza had been murdered and demanded a proper investigation.
He also questioned the whereabouts of the doctor who conducted the post-mortem examination and said police had yet to record the family’s statement. Mir Hussain alleged that police were giving the family one version of the case while providing different information outside. He said the family only received the investigation report after the matter was reported in the media.
“We are already in pain. We want justice,” he said. The conflicting positions have kept questions surrounding Mir Raza’s death alive, with police expected to disclose their findings at the proposed press conference.
