KHAIРPUR: DIG Sukkur Nisar Aftab has suspended 11 police personnel, including two SHOs, a police sergeant and two head clerks, following the circulation of videos allegedly showing extortion on the Mehran Highway.
According to details, SHO Kunb Yasir Khoso and SHO Kot Lalo Qadir Bakhsh Shar were among those suspended. Reports said that police at the Nangrija and Magia Bridge points had set up illegal barriers, where truck and trailer drivers were allegedly being stopped and forced to pay bribes to pass.
The videos, which went viral on social media, prompted swift action from the DIG, who ordered the suspension of officials from the Kot Lalo and Kunb police stations.
Authorities said further action would be taken following an investigation into the allegations.
