KARACHI: Malir district police conducted a raid in Sukhan area on 17 May 2026 as part of an ongoing crackdown against drugs and gutka mawa.
Police carried out a secret operation in the Bhains Colony area led by the station house officer of Sukhan police, during which a suspect was arrested.
Officials said the suspect had allegedly concealed betel nut and gutka mawa inside his house in a hidden location. He was involved in preparing gutka mawa and supplying it to different areas for sale.
The arrested man was identified as Umer, son of Shahbaz.
Police recovered 850 kilograms of betel nut, prepared gutka mawa and a digital weighing scale from the premises.
A case had been registered against the suspect and further investigation was under way.
Police also said raids were being conducted to arrest other individuals involved in the case, a spokesperson for Malir police said.
