LAHORE: Serious flaws have been revealed in the Lahore case registered against drug trafficking suspect Anmol alias Pinki, who was recently arrested in Karachi, according to investigative sources.
Sources said a police inquiry has found that the 2020 and 2022 cases registered in Lahore were handled with poor investigation standards. They added that legal officials have recommended reopening the investigation to reassess the case properly.
According to details, the investigating officer in the case, Inspector Nazakat, did not arrest Anmol Pinki at the time, and she was not even declared a proclaimed offender in the official case record.
Sources further said the challan kept her arrest pending, which resulted in the acquittal of another accused, Riyaz. They also claimed that narcotics recovered from Riyaz, allegedly linked to Pinki’s brother, were never sent for forensic testing.
It has also been reported that the original investigating officer, Inspector Nazakat, has since retired from service. Authorities are now expected to review the entire case file and determine further legal action.
