QAMBAR: More than 40 IBA-qualified PST and JEST waiting candidates staged a candlelight protest and observed a hunger strike outside the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Press Club in Qambar for the eighth consecutive day, demanding the issuance of their appointment orders.
Speaking during the protest, Abdul Ghaffar Mughairi, Asif Maitlo, Sajjad Lakho, Sahib Khan Chandio, Pervez Gopang and others said they had been waiting for their offer orders for the past four years but had still not been given their due right.
They said candidates who had passed the IBA tests for Primary School Teacher (PST) and Junior Elementary School Teacher (JEST) positions were being repeatedly overlooked, leaving many young people frustrated and uncertain about their future.
The protesters said a special committee’s decision on July 10 had not only affected their employment prospects but had also dealt a blow to their hopes for a stable future.
They strongly criticized the decision and said it was unfair to keep candidates waiting after four years. They said the candlelight protest was meant to highlight how the hopes of young people who had spent years waiting for jobs were gradually fading.
The candidates warned that if the government and education department failed to take notice of their demands, they would expand their protest.
They urged the Sindh government and senior education officials to resolve the issue of the 40-plus PST and JEST waiting candidates and issue their offer orders without further delay.
Otherwise, they said, they would be forced to adopt stronger measures to press for their rights, holding the government responsible for any resulting situation.
