ISLAMABAD: Foreign ministers from the R-4 Group, comprising Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, had reaffirmed their support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and called for a lasting solution to the decades-old conflict through diplomatic efforts.
The foreign ministers met in Amman on Wednesday and discussed the evolving situation in the Middle East, with a focus on Palestine and regional stability. They reiterated their position that the Palestinian people had the right to establish an independent and sovereign state based on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The ministers said a fair, comprehensive and permanent settlement of the Palestinian issue remained essential for achieving lasting peace and security in the region. They stressed that the resolution of the conflict required international commitment and adherence to relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
During the meeting, the four countries reviewed recent regional developments and highlighted the importance of continued consultations and close coordination among them. They said collective diplomatic engagement was necessary to address growing challenges and prevent further instability.
The ministers emphasized that dialogue and peaceful negotiations remained the most effective tools for reducing tensions and promoting security in the Middle East. They agreed to continue working together on regional issues and maintain coordination on efforts aimed at supporting peace and stability.
The R-4 Group’s meeting came amid continued international concern over the situation in Palestine and wider regional tensions, with several countries calling for renewed diplomatic initiatives to prevent further escalation and move towards a political resolution.
