SUKKUR: The Rural Health Centre (RHC) at Pir Jo Goth is providing 24-hour medical services to thousands of people living in remote and underserved areas, with hospital officials saying the facility offers a wide range of healthcare services free of charge under the supervision of the People’s Primary Healthcare Initiative (PPHI).

Hospital Administrator Dr Majid Ali Arijo, Store Manager and Pharmacist Dr Abdul Latif Hajano, Ultrasound Specialist Dr Abdul Qadir Maitlo and Medical Superintendent Dr Abdul Majid Kanhar said the health centre had developed into a well-equipped facility capable of delivering services comparable to those available at larger tertiary care hospitals.
They said the hospital is equipped with a modern laboratory capable of carrying out multiple diagnostic tests, while ultrasound and X-ray units are available to assist in timely diagnosis and treatment.
Officials added that the dental unit is fully equipped and provides a range of services, including root canal treatment, tooth fillings and other dental procedures, free of cost.
The hospital pharmacy supplies prescribed medicines to patients following consultations with specialists, including physicians, eye specialists, medical officers and women medical officers, ensuring that essential medicines are readily available.
Hospital management said maintaining accurate medical records remains a key priority. Patients also receive counselling, and those requiring specialised treatment beyond the facility’s capacity are referred to higher-level hospitals through an established referral system.
The RHC also operates a 24-hour ambulance service, has a standby power generator to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services, and places strong emphasis on maintaining cleanliness and hygiene throughout the facility.
Officials said anti-rabies and anti-snake venom vaccines are available at the hospital to deal with emergency cases. They noted that dog bite cases remain common in the area, while the number of malnourished children also remains a significant public health concern.
The management said close coordination between PPHI staff and the District Health Department has helped improve healthcare delivery and ensure better services for the local population.
