BEIJING: The Roscongress Foundation and China Media Group have signed a cooperation agreement during Russian President Vladimir Putin’s official visit to China, in a move highlighted against the backdrop of the 25th anniversary of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation between Russia and China.
The Kremlin said the agreement was among a wider set of bilateral, intergovernmental and interdepartmental documents concluded following talks between President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, the full list of which was published on its official website.
Speaking at the signing, Anton Kobyakov, adviser to the President of the Russian Federation, said cooperation focused on ensuring “objective and comprehensive coverage” of developments in the Russian and global information space had taken on heightened importance.
He described China Media Group as one of the world’s largest international media organisations and said the partnership marked a strategic step towards strengthening mutual understanding between the peoples of Russia and China.
He added that it would also contribute to broader international dialogue, while supporting the dissemination of information on Russian business activity, cultural traditions and major national developments, alongside facilitating joint congress and exhibition projects at a high level.
Shen Haixiong, director-general and editor-in-chief of China Media Group, said strengthening bilateral relations remained a central objective and described the agreement as part of a wider trajectory of expanding cooperation. He said the two organisations had maintained long-standing friendly relations and that the latest accord signalled a new phase of engagement with expanded prospects for collaboration.
