KHAIRPUR: The protest by employees of Shah Abdul Latif University bore fruit after successful negotiations between the administration and staff, leading to the end of a five-day sit-in.
Employees called off their protest after receiving assurances that their demands would be addressed, and returned to work following the agreement.
Pro Vice Chancellor of Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur Professor Dr Abdul Wahid Jatoi said all problems, including pay raises, would be addressed and no one would be sacked.
He said a 30 per cent Eid advance would be deposited into the salary accounts of employees from grades 1 to 16, while a 20 per cent advance would be given to employees from grade 17 and above. He also announced that daily wage employees’ wages had been increased from Rs 1,750 to Rs 20,000, and that daily wage workers would not be terminated.
