HYDERABAD: The Sindh High Court’s circuit bench in Hyderabad dismissed a constitutional petition filed by 23 individuals claiming to be journalists who had sought the allotment of residential plots in the Journalists Colony designated for members of the Hyderabad Press Club on the basis of accreditation cards.
In a detailed judgment, the court ruled that the Journalists Colony had been specifically allocated for the residential needs of Hyderabad Press Club members and that the petitioners had failed to establish any legal or equitable right to claim plots in the scheme.
The division constitutional bench, comprising Justice Adnan-ul-Karim Memon and Justice Riazat Ali Sahar, announced the verdict after reserving its decision on 9 December. The judgment, authored by Justice Memon, was released on Monday.
The court also issued strict directions to the Sindh Information Department, ordering it to constitute divisional, regional and provincial accreditation committees in line with Rule 3 of the Sindh Government Accreditation Rules, 2010.
