SUKKUR: The Department of Media and Communication Studies, in collaboration with the Students Societies Centre, organized an introductory seminar on “Social Entrepreneurship: A Way Forward to Peacebuilding and Curbing Extremism” at Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur Mir’s.

The session drew strong participation from students across departments, who engaged actively in discussions and shared their perspectives. The seminar was led by Prof. Dr. Mujeeb ur Rehman Abro and Dr. Ali Raza Lashari, drawing on their experiences from the FDP 2025 by UNODC.

Both speakers underscored the transformative role of social entrepreneurship in addressing community challenges, promoting peace, and countering extremist tendencies through sustainable, people-centered initiatives. They highlighted how innovative entrepreneurial models can empower youth to turn ideas into impactful social ventures.

The event was marked by enthusiastic participation and constructive engagement, providing students with a platform to explore entrepreneurial pathways, network with peers, and understand real-world applications through academic and industry insights. As part of the interactive session, participants were tasked with identifying social issues in their local communities.

These issues will be ideated and pitched in future sessions, aiming to develop them into potential social entrepreneurship projects. Shah Abdul Latif University continues to promote youth-led initiatives that encourage critical thinking, innovation, and peacebuilding for a progressive and inclusive society.
