KARACHI: The Sindh government had moved towards introducing a new legal framework for the management of state land, with the provincial cabinet reviewing the draft Sindh Government Lands Management Bill 2026 during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.
The proposed legislation was aimed at creating a modern, transparent and comprehensive system for the management, allotment and utilization of government land across the province. Officials told the cabinet that the new law would provide a structured mechanism to address long-standing challenges linked with state land management.
The meeting was informed that the bill was being prepared to bring greater clarity and efficiency to the process of handling government-owned land. The proposed framework would cover agricultural, industrial, residential, commercial and public interest projects, ensuring that land management policies were applied through a uniform system.
The Sindh government said the legislation would also introduce a mechanism for the quick and effective resolution of land-related complaints. The move was expected to reduce disputes, improve administrative oversight and strengthen transparency in the use of state land.
The cabinet was briefed that the existing challenges in land administration had created difficulties for development projects and public institutions over the years. The proposed law was designed to provide a permanent solution by establishing clear procedures for allotment and utilization while protecting public interest.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah directed officials to carefully examine all aspects of the draft legislation and ensure that the proposed measures reflected the province’s development needs. The bill was expected to become a key step in reforming the state land management system and improving governance in Sindh.
