Other senior officials associated with transport and highway management also took part in the meeting. A delegation from the Pakistan Goods Transport Association attended as well. The delegation was led by the association’s president, Malik Shehzad Akbar.
The gathering brought together officials from the federal and provincial governments and representatives of the goods transport sector. It provided a platform for discussing issues affecting road transport, highways and the movement of goods across the country.
The participation of the National Highway Authority, Motorway Police and transport departments reflected the broad institutional interest in the sector. The meeting also highlighted the importance of coordination between federal and provincial authorities on transport and highway matters.
The goods transport association’s participation allowed representatives of the trucking and logistics sector to present their concerns directly to government officials. The meeting came as transport operators continued to play a central role in moving goods between ports, industrial centers and markets across Pakistan.
Efficient highways and reliable transport services remain important for trade, supply chains and economic activity. Officials from the relevant departments were expected to examine issues affecting the sector and consider measures to improve coordination and road transport facilities.
The meeting also underscored the need for closer cooperation between government agencies and transport operators to address practical difficulties faced by the industry and ensure smoother movement of commercial traffic.
