KARACHI: Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nahal Hashmi held separate meetings with delegations from the Pakistan Youth Parliament and the Thar Education Alliance, stressing the importance of modern education, artificial intelligence and new skills in preparing young people for Pakistan’s future.
The delegations discussed issues relating to youth development, education and opportunities for young people. The governor highlighted the role of the younger generation in shaping the country’s social and economic future.
Hashmi said the youth would form the foundation of a strong and prosperous Pakistan by 2047. He said the country’s progress would depend largely on how effectively young people were equipped with relevant education and skills.
He stressed that the traditional approach to education needed to keep pace with rapid technological change. Students and young professionals, he said, needed greater exposure to emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, as well as practical skills that could improve their employment and entrepreneurial opportunities.
The governor said modern education should prepare young people not only for existing jobs but also for professions and industries that were still emerging. He called for greater attention to digital literacy, innovation and technical training.
During the meetings, the delegations also discussed the challenges facing young people and the need for stronger links between educational institutions and the changing requirements of the job market.
Hashmi said investment in education and skills development was an investment in Pakistan’s long-term future. He stressed the need to create opportunities that would allow young people to contribute meaningfully to the economy and society.
