KARACHI: Sindh Governor Muhammad Nehal Hashmi urged young people to develop skills in artificial intelligence and information technology, saying their ability to use modern technology would be important to Pakistan’s future.
The governor made the remarks during a visit to the historic NJV School in Karachi on Monday, where he spoke about the need to provide young people with greater access to education, technology and employment opportunities.
Hashmi said Pakistan’s future was closely linked to an educated and skilled generation capable of working with emerging technologies. He encouraged students and young people to equip themselves with AI and IT skills to improve their employment prospects and contribute to the country’s economic development.
The governor also urged the youth to make full use of the Digital Youth Hub. He said the platform offered access to a range of opportunities and facilities, including employment support, loans and laptops. He said young people should take advantage of such initiatives to improve their skills and pursue opportunities in an increasingly digital economy.
The government, he added, needed to continue supporting programs that helped the youth gain practical technological knowledge. The visit also included a tour of the historic school building. Hashmi visited its historic hall, where sessions of Pakistan’s first Constituent Assembly had been held.
The hall holds an important place in the country’s parliamentary history, having hosted proceedings during the early years of Pakistan’s constitutional development. He said institutions with such historical significance should be preserved and their history made accessible to younger generations.
