KARACHI: Sindh Police has launched a series of events to honour its fallen officers, with Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho attending a tree plantation ceremony at Garden Headquarters South to mark the annual Sindh Police Martyrs’ Day.
The ceremony was organized in collaboration with the Faizan Global Relief Foundation (FGRF), where IG Odho and the foundation’s president, Haji Abdul Habib Attari, jointly planted a sapling to inaugurate the campaign.
The event began with Quran recitation and prayers for the departed police personnel. Senior police officers, including the Additional IG Karachi, deputy inspectors general, senior superintendents of police and representatives of the Faizan Global Relief Foundation, attended the ceremony.
Speaking at the event, Haji Abdul Habib Attari thanked the police leadership for their participation and said the foundation had already planted more than 20,000 trees at various Sindh Police units and training centres. He described tree plantation as essential for environmental protection and tackling climate change, while praising the commitment of Sindh Police officers and personnel to public service.
IG Odho welcomed the launch of the tree plantation campaign in memory of Sindh Police martyrs and thanked the foundation for its support. He said the initiative reflected the force’s commitment to honoring officers who had lost their lives in the line of duty.
He said the primary purpose of the commemorative events was to reassure the families of fallen officers and injured personnel that Sindh Police would always remember their sacrifices and stand by them in difficult times.
The police chief added that Sindh Police continued to serve as a frontline force in maintaining law and order, and that the ceremony was dedicated to paying tribute to the force’s martyrs and their families.
