MEHAR: Leaders of the Primary Teachers Association have pledged to step up their campaign for teachers’ rights and the recovery of missing children across Sindh during a reception held to honour the organisation’s newly elected office-bearers.
The ceremony, organised by teachers and journalists at the National Press Club Mehar, recognised the election of Central General Secretary Aijaz Chandio, Taluka President Aijaz Mangi, General Secretary Abdul Samad Bughio, Vice President Matloob Hussain Narejo and other office-bearers. The guests were presented with traditional Sindhi ajraks in appreciation of their services.
Addressing the gathering, PTALAF Sindh General Secretary Aijaz Chandio said the association would continue its struggle for teachers’ welfare, protection of their rights and the safe recovery of missing children in the province.
He assured teachers that the organisation would continue to stand by them and support them in addressing professional and administrative challenges.
Chandio also highlighted the contribution of teachers serving under the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) and Basic Education Community Schools (BECS), saying they had been delivering education with dedication for many years despite facing employment-related challenges.
He urged the Sindh government to regularise the services of NCHD and BECS teachers and extend to them the same benefits and privileges available to government employees. He announced that the demand for their regularisation would be included in the association’s Charter of Demands at its central meeting scheduled for 9 August.
The teachers’ leader also appealed to the Sindh government and law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts for the recovery of missing children, particularly Ujala Parveen Solangi, the daughter of primary school teacher Shamsuddin Solangi from Mehar, along with other children who remain missing.
He called for swift action to reunite the children with their families and help restore public confidence in law enforcement institutions.
The ceremony was attended by Majid Panhor, Rafiq Ahmed Khoso, Muhammad Siddique Pahi, National Press Club Mehar President Abdul Rahman Qambrani, Mir Sabir Kolachi, Faraz Channa, Sudhir Chandio, Fayyaz Ansari and a large number of teachers, journalists and community representatives.
