KHYBER: Teachers’ organisations held a joint press conference at the Bara District Press Club and strongly condemned the killing of schoolteacher Musafir Shah, who was shot dead at a school gate in Bar Qambar Khel Jan Khan Kalay a day earlier.
Speaking at the press conference, Nasir Shah Afridi, president of the All Teachers Association Khyber, Shahid Gul of the Young Teachers Association, Hafeezullah Amin of Malgari Ustazan Khyber, and Malik Nadar Shah of Tanzeem-e-Asatiza Khyber, along with other teachers, said Musafir Shah had been a humble, dedicated and sincere teacher with no personal enmity.
They said targeting a teacher at the gate of an educational institution had caused deep shock and concern not only within the teaching community but across Khyber district and the province’s education sector. The killing had inflicted irreparable loss not only on the teacher’s family but also on the educational future of students in the area.
Teachers’ leaders urged the government and law enforcement agencies to immediately arrest those involved in the incident and bring them to justice to ensure the protection of teachers and educational institutions.
They warned that if the perpetrators were not arrested promptly and justice was not delivered for Musafir Shah, the teaching community, along with students, would launch a protest movement until justice was served.
