DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Police in Dera Ismail Khan carried out an operation following intelligence about the presence of a dacoit gang, resulting in an exchange of fire in which two wanted suspects were arrested in injured condition.
According to details, the raid was conducted in the Band Dhappanwala area on the directives of District Police Officer Ziauddin Ahmad and under the supervision of SP City Muhammad Nauman. The operation was led in the field by DSP City Circle Malik Abid Iqbal along with SHO Cantt and City police teams.
Officials said that as police reached the location, the suspects opened fire, triggering an exchange of gunfire.
During the encounter, two alleged criminals identified as Zafarullah alias “Double”, son of Sadozai Suleman Khel, and his accomplice Muhammad Waqas, son of Rustam Khan Baloch, residents of Sheikh Yousaf Adda, were arrested in injured condition.
Police recovered one motorcycle and two pistols from their possession. Authorities said both suspects were involved in multiple cases of robbery, attempted murder, theft and kidnapping registered at different police stations including Shorkot, Cantt, City and Dera Town.
Officials added that the police team remained unharmed during the operation.
DPO Ziauddin Ahmad appreciated the performance of DSP Malik Abid Iqbal and his team for what he described as a successful and brave operation.
