KARACHI: Police in Karachi’s Korangi district arrested two alleged street criminals during an intelligence-based operation in the Zaman Town area, officials said on Monday.
According to police, the operation was conducted by Zaman Town Police Station following a tip-off regarding the presence of suspected criminals in the area. Officers managed to apprehend two suspects on the spot.
The arrested individuals were identified as Nabeel, son of Hanif, and Shan, son of M. Nanay Khan.
Police said a cache of weapons and stolen property was recovered from their possession during the raid. The recovered items included two 30-bore pistols along with ammunition, as well as 12 grams of gold jewellery.
Officials confirmed that the recovered jewellery had been reported stolen in case number 615 of 2026, registered under Sections 457, 380 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code at Zaman Town Police Station.
Following the arrest, separate cases were registered against the suspects under case numbers 621 and 622 of 2026 under Section 23(1-A) of the Sindh Arms Act.
Police also highlighted that suspect Nabeel had a long criminal record, with multiple prior cases registered against him in different police stations. These included charges related to motor vehicle theft, illegal arms possession, and various other criminal offences filed between 2022 and 2026.
Officials said the arrest marked a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to curb street crime in the Korangi district. Investigations suggested the suspects may be linked to a wider network involved in robbery and armed street crime, although further inquiry was still underway.
The accused have been taken into custody and further investigations are in progress to determine their involvement in other incidents and to identify possible accomplices.
A spokesperson for Korangi Police said operations against street criminals would continue across the district to ensure law and order and public safety, adding that intelligence-based actions had been intensified in recent weeks.
