Unity only path to survival and stability, says MQM-H leader

KARACHI: The secretary general of the Mohair Qaumi Movement (Haqiqi), Shahid Faraz, has said that unity is the only path to survival, stability and political strength for the Mohajir community, warning that continued divisions will deepen economic and political marginalization.

Speaking during a meeting with a delegation of senior Mohajir figures at the residence of party chairman Afaq Ahmed, Faraz expressed serious concern over what he described as long-standing injustices faced by Karachi and the “biased policies” of the Pakistan Peoples Party-led Sindh government.

He said that if the provincial government failed to abandon what he termed discriminatory practices, his party would not hesitate to go to “any length” to secure a safer and more prosperous future for its people. The survival and stability of nations, he said, could only be achieved through unity, while division inevitably led to failure.

Faraz argued that repeated administrative and political divisions had been deliberately imposed to weaken Sindh’s urban areas, leaving residents trapped in deprivation and injustice. History, he said, showed that fragmentation had always harmed nations, while unity had given them strength and direction.

He urged people in urban Sindh to set aside internal differences and come together around shared interests, saying the moment demanded collective action rather than political rivalry. Unity, he added, was the only force capable of empowering the public both economically and politically.

Faraz also claimed that Karachi’s political and economic spheres were under the control of “non-local mafias”, the consequences of which were being borne by the entire Mohajir community. He reiterated that MQM-P had stood by the Mohajir identity from its first day and remained committed to uniting the community under the Mohajir banner.
