KARACHI: Karachi Mayor and spokesperson for Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, has criticised Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) statements, saying fear of defeat in Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections had led to political frustration.
Reacting to remarks by Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari, Wahab said the postponement of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s public gathering was due only to security concerns, adding that public enthusiasm for the PPP remained stronger than before.
He said if the rally had taken place, Mirpur in Azad Kashmir would have witnessed a historic public gathering similar to those held in Kashmore and Mirpurkhas. Wahab claimed that PML-N would face an outcome in Azad Kashmir similar to its performance in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Highlighting the Sindh government’s performance, he said the province had set examples in healthcare, transport and infrastructure development. He pointed to the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) as evidence of Sindh’s healthcare initiatives, saying patients from across the country receive free treatment there.
The Karachi mayor urged PML-N leaders to review their own performance before criticising others. He claimed the party’s politics had remained limited to Lahore while other parts of Punjab had been neglected.
Wahab also criticised the federal government over the delay in completing the Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway project, saying people were demanding answers. He called on the Punjab government to focus on resolving public issues instead of engaging in political accusations.
Wahab said PPP’s politics was based on public service, tolerance and welfare rather than hatred and division, adding that voters would judge political parties on their performance rather than allegations. “People know who has delivered and who has remained limited to statements,” he said.
