KHAIRPUR: Senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and former Sindh home minister Manzoor Hussain Wassan has said he remains committed to safeguarding Sindh’s interests and will continue working for the welfare of its people and the province’s development.
Speaking to reporters at Wassan House, he described Khairpur as one of Sindh’s largest and most important districts, saying its size brought a broad range of development challenges and public service needs. He said efforts had been made to address these issues to improve access to essential services and protect citizens’ basic rights.
Wassan said poverty and unemployment remained major challenges, particularly in the district’s remote areas where limited resources had slowed development. He added that Khairpur possessed significant natural resources which, if effectively utilized, could strengthen the local economy and create employment opportunities for thousands of people.
He said farmers, agricultural workers, daily wage earners and other members of the labour force formed the backbone of the economy and should be provided with greater economic opportunities.
The PPP leader urged the Sindh government and relevant authorities to encourage industrial development in Khairpur through the establishment of small and medium-sized industries, including cement, cotton-processing and leather manufacturing plants. He said such projects would help generate jobs, reduce poverty and contribute to the district’s long-term economic growth.
Concluding his remarks, Wassan reaffirmed his party’s commitment to public service, sustainable development and the protection of Sindh’s collective interests.
