KARACHI: A seminar titled Sindh Police: Past and Present, organized by Ad Plus Media in collaboration with Sindh Police, was held at the Clifton Driving Licence Branch in Karachi, bringing together senior officials, policymakers and experts to reflect on the force’s evolution and current performance. The chief guest was Ghulam Nabi Memon, inspector general of Sindh Police.

The event featured a wide range of speakers, including Senator Sarmad Ali, group managing director of the Jang and Geo Group; Sirajuddin Aziz, federal banking ombudsman; Dr Seema Mughal, vice-chancellor of Greenwich University; Brigadier (retd) Haris Nawaz, former Sindh home minister; Brigadier Tariq Qadir Lakhiyar, chief executive of the Sindh Emergency Rescue Service; and Kaleem Farooqui, chief executive of Technology Links Private Limited.

Ad Plus chief executive Khurram Jaffrani warmly welcomed the chief guest, speakers and other distinguished participants at the seminar. In their addresses, the speakers discussed the historical journey of Sindh Police, the challenges it has faced over the years and its current operational performance. They spoke at length about ongoing reforms and institutional progress, and acknowledged improvements made within the force.

During the event, short documentary videos were screened highlighting key initiatives undertaken by Sindh Police, including the establishment of model police stations, the introduction of faceless policing, training and fitness programs, anti-narcotics measures, the use of technology, welfare initiatives, operations against criminals in the katcha areas, the activation of functional units and the development of modern investigation systems. These reforms were widely appreciated by all speakers.

In his closing remarks, Ghulam Nabi Memon responded to questions from the panel and shed light on both ongoing and future reforms within Sindh Police. The seminar concluded with the distribution of shields among the distinguished guests.
