DADU: Rashid Mahmood Soomro, General Secretary of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) Sindh, has held the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) responsible for rising corruption and inflation in the province, claiming that poor governance has inflicted severe hardships on residents.
Addressing a public gathering in Dadu, Soomro alleged that the PPP compromised Sindh’s natural resources, including Karoonjhar, to retain power, to the detriment of ordinary citizens. He further highlighted the province’s educational crisis, noting that over 1.6 million children are currently deprived of schooling, while deserving candidates must protest to secure jobs.
Soomro criticized Sindh’s dual education system, which he said favors the wealthy over the poor, widening social and economic disparities. On the agricultural front, Soomro said government policies have left wheat, paddy, and sugarcane farmers in distress, pointing out that official sugarcane prices have remained unchanged for five years even as sugar prices have doubled.
The JUI-F also expressed concern over law and order in rural Sindh, reporting that more than 400 individuals remain imprisoned due to banditry, and accused tribal leaders of inciting conflicts to maintain political influence, leaving ordinary citizens vulnerable to insecurity.
