DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Prova police have won widespread public appreciation after helping resolve a prolonged electricity outage in the area, restoring power to homes and businesses following the replacement of a faulty transformer.
A transformer at Adda Prova had remained out of order for nearly two weeks, causing serious difficulties for shopkeepers and domestic consumers. Residents said the disruption had affected daily life and business activity until timely intervention by the police leadership, working in coordination with local traders and Wapda officials, led to the restoration of electricity.
Under the supervision of SDPO Muhammad Saleem Baloch, SHO Sheikh Muhammad Bilal and ASI Syed Tasawur Abbas, the power issue was taken up as a priority. The officers maintained close coordination with Wapda and ensured the prompt replacement of the damaged transformer, bringing immediate relief to the affected population.
Citizens, traders and social figures praised the police for what they described as exemplary and prompt action, saying the force had demonstrated that its role extended beyond crime control to public welfare and service. Many residents said such initiatives had strengthened trust between the police and the community.
The president of Anjuman-e-Tajran Prova, Muhammad Akram, actively supported the effort and worked closely with the administration throughout the process. He said officials from the National Highway Authority had also assured that, during ongoing repair work on Paharpur Road, Wapda power lines would be shifted to higher poles to reduce the risk of accidents or damage. A Wapda team is expected to visit Paharpur soon to raise and secure the power lines for the safety of citizens and shopkeepers.
Prominent businessman Waris Khan Baloch also contributed by arranging meals and refreshments for staff involved in restoring the electricity supply. Malik Farooq Ahmed Prova, Malik Arshad Naveed, Nasir Khan Lodhi, Yasir Lodhi, Rafiq Sagar and representatives from various walks of life in Prova described the police initiative as a model of public service and offered prayers for all those involved.
With electricity restored, normal life has returned to the area, businesses have resumed operations and residents have expressed hope that the police will continue to address public issues with the same commitment and sense of urgency.
